Associate Attorney — Estate Planning, Probate & Fiduciary Litigation

Reports to: Owner/Managing Attorney or designated supervising attorney

Licensure: Active New Jersey license required; New York and/or Pennsylvania admission a plus

Level: Experienced associate; must be able to immediately serve as lead counsel

Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced associate attorney who can independently manage estate planning, probate, guardianship, and fiduciary litigation matters from strategy through resolution. This is not an entry-level role; the ideal candidate is confident leading contested matters, advising clients, supervising support staff, and delivering high-quality client service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as lead counsel in contested probate, trust, fiduciary, and guardianship matters.
  • Develop case strategy, draft and argue pleadings and motions, manage discovery, attend court proceedings, and negotiate resolutions.
  • Lead estate planning meetings and draft wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives, deeds, and related planning documents.
  • Advise clients on trust funding, asset alignment, special needs planning, long-term care, Medicaid, tax, and succession considerations,
  • Manage probate, estate administration, and guardianship matters, including filings, notices, inventories, accountings, releases, and distributions.
  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients while maintaining deadlines, file notes, billing support, and case-management records.
  • Delegate effectively to paralegals and staff and contribute to firm growth through education, outreach, networking, and content development.
