Aberdeen Township is a township located in Monmouth County, New Jersey. It is part of the New York Metropolitan Area. The township had a population of 19,329 as of the 2020 United States Census. It also forms part of the New York Metropolitan Area. Aberdeen Township is part of the Bayshore Regional Strategic Plan. This plan was developed by nine Monmouth County municipalities to revitalize the region’s economy. It emphasizes the traditional downtowns and residential neighborhoods, maritime history, natural environment, and historic waterfronts. The United States Census Bureau reported that the total area of the township was 7.77 sq. miles, with 5.45 square miles of land and 2.33square miles of water. The township is divided into two sections. A small exclave at the southwest corner of the township is separated from the rest by Route 79. Cliffwood Beach and Strathmore are two unincorporated communities and census designated places (CDPs) within Aberdeen Township.
