Manalapan Township is a New Jersey township. It is located in the central part of the Raritan valley region. The 2010 United States Census showed that the township had 38,872 residents. Named Manalapan, it is derived from a Lenape word that could mean “land of good food”, “good land to settle on”, or “good bread”. Monmouth Battlefield State Park covers 2,928 acres in both townships. Manalapan Township was created by an act of the New Jersey Legislature, March 9, 1848, from portions of Freehold Township. Englishtown was created as a city from parts of Manalapan, on January 4, 1888. This was based upon the results of a referendum. According to the United States Census Bureau, the total area of the township was 30.88 sq miles, which included 30.65 sq miles of land and 0.23square miles of water. The township is located at an elevation of 82 feet.
Manalapan’s Recreation Center covers 162 acres, offering two handball courts, nine softball/baseball fields, a fitness trail, two football fields, nine football/soccer fields, two street hockey courts, three tot lots, six basketball courts, six tennis courts, two bocce courts, two sand volleyball courts, a nine-hole disc golf course, a small water park, concession stand, two picnic areas, two maintenance buildings, two shelter buildings, and a headquarters building. You can also visit Happy Day Farm located at 106 Iron Ore Rd Manalapan Township. This is a family-owned, wholesome farm established in 2012. They’re open seasonally for blueberries, raspberries, pumpkins, sunflowers, lavender & more. If you like golfing, you can also drop by Pine Brook Golf Course. This is an 18-hole, par 61 executive-length golf course with a golf center. Pine Brook measures 4,168 yards from the white tees and includes one par five hole, five par four holes, and 12 par three holes.
